Reconstitution, 2017

For the exhibition, Reconstitution, I painted the U.S. constitution in Farsi on the façade of the gallery and its interior walls. This gesture was a means of signifying current debates on immigration and foreign policy, and how they bear on a sense of national identity. This backdrop for the exhibition raises the question to whom is the constitution illegible to and to whom are its policies and principles serving.
